Lilly is about 4 years old and was obtained by a very nice family searching a popular list on the internet for a new dog. Unfortunately the previous owners did not pass along some critical information and it probably cost Lilly her sight.
Lilly is diabetic and going without insulin for over a month caused some irreversible damage to her eyes. She can still see some movement but for all intents and purposes she is now blind.
While the new family hated to give her up they realized that her daily care was too much for them to handle with their young children and busy schedules. She takes insulin which requires a shot every 12 hours. They were so happy to hear about rescue and in particular about GRRR’s Golden Angel Fund available for dogs with medical issues like Lilly’s. Lilly was welcomed into GRRR’s care with open arms and open hearts. She has seen the ophthalmologist and is currently taking some eye drops he prescribed.
Lilly absolutely loves car rides and is always up for a road trip or even a stroll around the neighborhood. Like a typical Golden Lilly loves to be around people. She is housebroken and adjusts well to new environments. She was wonderful with the very young children in her previous home and has no issues with other dogs.
Lilly does require some extra care and GRRR is looking for just the right home for this special Golden Angel Girl. If you feel you can provide a loving and caring home for Lilly please fill out an application and mention her name. She deserves a new family to love her unconditionally and forever.
Handsome and happy CJ is looking for his new family with GRRR’s help. He arrived when his loving home had to move and couldn’t take him along. He enjoys the company of other dogs, cats, kids and even does great with chickens according to his former home. He is a typical goofy Golden and has a wonderful easy going personality. CJ is good on leash and has great indoor manners. He was given the full GRRR treatment with a trip to the vet, a day at the doggy spa with our groomer and he is ready to start his new life with a loving family.
If you would consider giving this sweet senior boy his new forever home then please mention ‘CJ’ on your application.
Ozzie has arrived at GRRR! This adorable little mix is ready for a new home with patient people. While he is mostly no trouble at all he was never taught some basic manners and needs some work on possessiveness and guarding behavior. GRRR’s trainer has evaluated him and determined he’s eager to please and willing to learn. She has a few tricks and tips to pass along to Ozzie’s new family to give them the tools they need to work with him. With a bit of time and consistency he should adapt well and be a great addition for the right forever home.
Ozzie is good on leash and has gotten along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He’s a bit of a picky eater and sometimes will ignore the food in his bowl until he feels like eating – not typical Golden Retriever behavior! Like a Golden he does have a sweet disposition and loves human attention. He’s feeling so much better now that he’s seen the groomer and his coat is soft and fluffy. Ozzie is about 45lbs, current on shots and pronounced healthy by GRRR’s vet.
If you would like to meet Ozzie please mention him on your application. He’s anxiously waiting to hear from you!
8 year old Tootsie, a Chocolate Lab, would love to make your acquaintance. She arrived at GRRR with a Golden Retriever companion who recently found his forever home and Tootsie knows her turn for love is surely coming soon. Tootsie was found stray so GRRR does not know her past history. Tootsie has now had her vet check-up and was found to be in good health and is current on all her vaccinations. Her only limitation is that she has mild arthritis and so takes arthritis medicine occasionally and would do well with a good joint supplement. She will probably never be a super-athlete but enjoys walks with the volunteers and time in the play yard.
And what a love bug she is! Tootsie is always happy to meet each new volunteer who comes to spend time with her, and she is equally happy enjoying the company of the other dogs in her foster home. She is a very well-balanced girl with a great attitude and outlook on life. Tootsie has such charm, together with excellent manners and a delightful personality. After grooming, her coat has the most beautiful sheen! She is definitely a gift, and on her holiday wish list is a forever home filled with love. Might you be the one to bring Tootsie ”home for the holidays?”
Look at those eyelashes!!!
Beautiful Cheyenne has arrived at GRRR and we are so happy to have her!
Cheyenne spent her life as an outdoor dog, neglected and under socialized. Her previous owner decided to give her a second chance to have the wonderful happy life every Golden deserves and asked for GRRR’s help. It has been very rewarding to see her blossom since she’s had a much needed grooming and has been getting the love and attention she deserves. She now lives indoors and out of the cold and rainy weather. Indoors with her people that she so craves attention from and indoors with a warm soft bed to call her own.
Cheyenne has seen GRRR’s vet and is current on vaccinations and the veterinary care she needed. She would do best in a home as an only dog. Her lifetime spent outdoors and not properly interacting with other dogs has made her a bit grouchy in their presence. She needs a home that will continue to help her make up for the lost time, love and attention she lacked before GRRR’s help.
Hi! My name is Zak and I am at Phoebe’s Place waiting for a new family. You might be thinking that I do not really look like a Golden Retriever and wonder why I’m here. I arrived with another dog – a bossy Golden girl that has since found her forever home. I have been such a charming and easy going guy that it won’t take long for someone to find me and give me the wonderful home I deserve too!
I have been described as a calm and mellow boy that just likes to hang out with my person and hopefully get lots of attention. I play well with the other dogs and will spend my days interacting with them and seeking attention from my foster mom. Then its time for a nap so that I can get up and do it all over again! Such a ‘ruff’ life I lead!
My favorite activity is playing fetch. I am really good at it and can show the other ‘retrievers’ a thing or two about how to play properly. I will play for a long time before I get bored. I also have shown that I am good around older kids – I love to play with anyone that is willing to spend time with me.
If you have a place in your home for me, Zak, then please let the kind folks at GRRR know. I would love to meet you and start my new life!
Zoe the Yellow Lab is here and ready to find a forever family to call her own. She lived in a home that loved and cherished her very much. However they decided they could not keep this sweet girl and asked for GRRR’s help.
Zoe is gentle, loving and affectionate. She is housetrained and a breeze on a leash. She enjoys hanging out with her person whether it be going for rides in the car, laying at their feet while they work or watching TV on the couch.
If you are looking for a wonderful companion dog then Zoe might be the girl for you. Please fill out an application and mention Zoe if you are interested in meeting this wonderful girl.
Greetings everyone. My name is Sugar, I am 10 years old, and I want to share my success story with you. I came to GRRR not only looking for a new home but also in need of TLC. GRRR provides each of their Goldens with loads of love and also with a vet check-up. I passed that exam just fine . . . except I was told I needed to lose a bunch of weight. Well, look at me now!! I have been so well cared for in my foster home, have been eating a healthy diet and have gotten regular exercise. As a result of all this consistent hard work, I am now showing off a very girlish figure! I am so much happier, and I also feel so much better.
I love my foster family and the cuddles they give me. I am easy going and sometimes need just a little persuasion to go for those important walks, although I am ready to play an easy game of fetch at a moment’s notice. I have been told my indoor manners are excellent. I definitely love attention for myself and am seeking a forever home where I am the only dog. Do you have room in your heart and in your home for a very special Golden girl?
Please remember me, Sugar, and I hope we will meet soon.
What a big difference in how Henry feels today compared to when he first arrived at Phoebe’s Place! Henry was picked up stray so GRRR knows little about this big loveable lug except that he has a winning attitude about life.
Henry is like a sweet old country gentleman. He’s a very mellow boy who loves to follow his person around the house and will periodically put his head on your knee just to say hi and connect. When Henry goes for a walk, he saunters…no rushing with Henry! He loves being anywhere with his person. He’s also amazingly gentle when you give him treats. Henry gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids. He’s a total sweetheart!
Henry just knows the right forever home will come along soon. He knows folks can’t help but fall in love with him once they meet him. He’ll make a lovely laid back addition to any family. Thanks for considering him!
